Star Making: How to do it

As part of our Woodland Wonderland Christmas display, next to Santa’s Grotto, we made a number of stars out of lengths of hazel and bits of string. You can make one yourself if you like, and take it home with you. It’s very straight forward, all you need is six pencil thick pieces of nice, straight hazel or willow, all of equal length, and some string to tie them together with.

Tie the ends together

Take three of the sticks and tie them together to form a triangle.

Triangle!

Take the remaining three pieces and make them into a triangle identical to the first one.

Attaching the two triangles together

Now tie the two triangles together to form a six point star.

In the loop

Add a loop to hang the star.

Bundles of fun!

If you’re feeling adventurous you can try making a five point star, you only need five sticks for this one.
